More Info: Up for sale I have a 1978 Subaru Brat. I swapped gauge cluster and do not know the original mileage. It is located in Southern California (San Diego). What was supposed to be a freshening up turned into a partial restoration. I stripped the car to bare metal, primed the vehicle, and had it professionally painted with a single stage GM color code white paint. The bed and interior floor were professionally sprayed with Raptor Liner spray in bed liner. I had 13? aftermarket original bolt pattern wheels powder coated black and real stainless bolts installed with brand new stock size tires from Discount Tire that are still under warranty. The seats are Blue Honda S2000 seats that use original seat mounts so stock seats can be reinstalled. The dash was repaired with epoxy has been recovered in blue vinyl. It has a high topper roll bar and I have a high topper shell for it as well. The rear seats and belts are in nice condition complete with covers for them. The fuse block had been upgraded to ATC style fuses. It runs, drives, stops, and steers good. The interior and exterior is a collection of the best pieces of 5 brats I have purchased over the years. It is current on registration fees but will need to be smogged. It failed last year due to the idle being too high. I had the carburetor rebuilt by La Mesa carb and fuel injection and it still has idle issues I’m out of patience with this car and have moved on to another project. If you have any question please gimme a call. [REDACTED]

  1. Hi, that sounds like, but not having really looked that youve done some research on figuring out this car. I had one, but in Ohio and will an added steel snow plow by third party manufacture(domestic), the plow was great but dont use it, too much stress on the body and it rotted the front wheel interiour well and the back bed, suspension. I guess I was an Ohio early learner on this too early model. Theyve built a great mark on people like me and you and are doing great at expense of us early adopters. The unibody (now ubiquitous), fine, the steel, old crap and overseas, and dealer and us ongoing maintenance crap and overpriced, I had to try last dith frame welding it, figured out I couldnt weld and gave it away. I was upward bound anyways so it didnt matter to me beyond being a nice price point starter car at the time and situation. I t did drive me to drive an isuzu which was great and then ultimately a porsche until I got over my car distrust at the time. Much better market today at our present world volume (just too many driving now, here and china, et al)
