This is a repost. Already posted last month, but I hadn’t been ready to let go. Apologies to everyone who got excited for naught.

For sale is a 1980 subaru brat awd. One of the maddest cars ever built, an instant classic. All(!) stock, including original windshield wipers. Runs like a champ, transmission is solid, awd works, and it’s a blast to drive!

Not especially fast, but exceedingly stylish and never fails to get a big smile out of people. Or their phone number. This particular one is about as rusty as you’d expect it to be. Fine for a very dry climate, otherwise it needs some work.

I’m selling bc I have to get another truck, and I don’t want 3 cars. I also bought it to do some bodywork as a pastime, but I don’t have the time. I’d keep it, but I live by the water and don’t want to leave it here during the wet season. (you’re encouraged to come in over asking to make sure I’ll sell it.)

The car was driven by the original owner for 25 years until his license was revoked in the 2000s. Car was then non-oped and apparently only used to drive kids around the block in the back seats.

The bad
Rusty. Pretty much everywhere. The body overhead has some bad spots and some holes. The critical areas underneath are fine, and large parts of the paint are fine too. Does not need complete overhaul, can be done piecemeal.

Needs tune-up + breaks
Only thing broken is back window (easy to replace)
Ask me about dmv. Haven’t made it there yet, and won’t for a while. Had $200 in back fees 3-4 weeks ago.

The good
It drives well.
It’s a subaru brat. 1980, meaning the seats in the back are legal for passengers.
It runs fine and it’s gorgeous. Drove it 100 miles from where I bought it, and it just went, needed neither oil nor cooling. Redlined it some on coastal highway and it was game.
23 mpg city, 33 mpg highway.

It’s all stock, from the manual book to the windshield wipers, to the safety belts, to the lights on top. Interior is dusty but in very nice shape. Even ac works.

Again, apologies for lack of selling last time. I’m ready to let go.
