The Subaru BRAT, short for “Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain Transporter”, known outside Canada and the United States as the 284 in the United Kingdom, Brumby in Australia, and shifter, MV, or Targa in other markets, is a light duty, four-wheel drive coupé utility, sold from 1978 to 1994. It was an export-only model, never being officially sold in Japan. Due to this, the BRAT became a popular grey import vehicle in Japan. Source: Wikipedia.com

This 1986 Subaru Brat has just 72,5XX documented miles. You’ll probably never find another Subaru Brat with such low mileage and nice condition. I’ve seen a lot of old Brats for sale and most are in rough condition. This means very high mileage, missing jump seats and/or seat belts rusted out, trashed interior. This classic grabs attention and quite often when I’m out for a cruise I get compliments. It turns heads.
I am the third owner. The first owner bought it in MO, second was for a short time in NY. It has stayed with me in FL (garaged for the last 15 years). It’s always been adult-owned and adult-driven and is completely stock. I have all the original manuals and all receipts and service records for recent work performed. Plus I have a few boxes of OE parts. This is for a true Brat enthusiast.
Also included is a 1986 Subaru press release on info/specs of various models plus 8×10 glossy photos of each. It also comes with an original 1986 sales brochure for this Brat. I have the owner’s manual and other original Subaru documents and records. Finished in metallic blue over a blue interior, the truck shows just over 72,500 miles and is powered by a 1.8-liter flat-four linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case.
The body reportedly received a driver-quality repaint in metallic blue in 2003 and has been garage kept since. Black BRAT graphics and stripes are featured. Photos of the glass roof panels both raised and lowered are provided in the gallery below along with close-up images of the lenses, trim, and B-pillar decals. Gloss black powder coated OEM 13” eight-spoke wheels are wrapped in new Kumho tires. This Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain Transporter (BRAT) is now ready to go with factory manuals, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
