“It’s powered by propane and propane accessories, I tell you what” -Hank Hill.

Up for sale I have a 1980 Subaru brat powered by propane. This thing has had a full fledged propane conversion thrown into it with electronically actuated gas solenoid, custom carb, metal fuel lines, and a 42.5 gallon propane tank mounted into the bed.

These cars are getting harder and harder to find and you won’t find another one like this one.

PROS:
Propane powered (getting 20MPG, 42.5 gallon tank = 850 miles per tank)
Propane is 2.3337 per gallon US average
Runs and drives, starts up without hesitation
Clean title, no brands
4×4 selector works
Manual transmission
Comes with original rims (hard to find, I have the spare tire too)
Clutch and trans in working order
bull bar front end
roll bar in bed
4 headlight front end (instead of less desirable 2 headlight front end)

CONS:
2 passenger side tires won’t hold air longer than a day
Brakes are a little spongey, needs bled and fluid replaced
Dents, dings, scratches, rust (pretty decent for a 42 year old beater car)
Key got stuck in ignition and had to be pulled out with vice grips (a pull plunger switch has been installed in it’s place. Key still locks and unlocks doors)

I would recommend you tow it home. I drove it home on the freeway when I bought it but it’s sat quite a while and needs a little TLC before I’d do 70 on the freeway again. 2000 OBO. Please don’t lowball me. These cars in running driving condition without a full propane conversion are fetching 2000-3000 dollars easy.

  1. would you be willing to sell roll bar and nose guard. And if so I would need to find out cost to ship to mississippi.
