Reliable, exotic, retro, and slow are just a few words one could use to describe the legendary Subaru BRAT.

This BRAT in particular was purchased by myself a little over a month ago as a secondary project to my current BRAT. However, plans changed and I have decided to let this one go. In it’s current state it does not drive. It will start up idol high then shut down. I am not a mechanic but I’m pretty confident that this is due to the carburetor. It also seems to have air in the brake lines so that will definitely need to be addressed.

It is a shame to let it go but I am going to focus on just one BRAT for now. Hopefully, this one can find an owner that will give it the TLC it needs to be back on the road for good! These are truly fun and unique vehicles that appeal to every auto enthusiast on the road… so if you want a ride that will garner some attention look no further.

More Details:

I have not had this BRAT long nor have I had it on the road. The previous owner told me they recently had the brake master cylinder replace but it still has issues (I think the lines need to be bled further. My BRAT recently had a similar issue but was resolved by GNG). The catalytic converter broke sending debris into the muffler so a new exhaust is needed for this BRAT as well. Fortunately, MagnaFlow makes replacements that bolt right on.

There is VERY minimal rust on this car. It appears that the previous owner would spray exposed areas with paint to prevent rust. The downside on the body work is that he did attempt to do bodywork on it that is very shotty… But nothing that can not be easily fixed. Other than that this BRAT is in very good shape all things considered. Please let me know if you have more questions I’m happy to help but keep in mind I have limited knowledge of this car since I have only had it for a short time.

PERFECT dashboard – (this is very rare for a subaru brat) all others that I have seen including mine are cracked from sun damage.
